Paints & Coatings

Condensed phosphates for use in paints and coatings as dispersing agents, buffers and sequestrants. CALGON® and LOPON® specialities enrich the portfolio with different functionalities for the coatings industry.

Condensed phosphates are extensively used as dispersing agents in pigmented water-based systems. The primary areas are in paper coating “colors” and water-based paints. ICL phosphates, like tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP) and tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP), aid in the wetting and even dispersion of pigments in formulating the final product. In latex paints, TKPP and potassium tripolyphosphate (KTPP) are the preferred dispersing agents, yielding systems of low and stable viscosities, but also acting as sequestrants.
Corrosion Inhibitors An extensive line of Corrosion Inhibiting products from Halox®
Defoamers LOPON® E-81* –  the green defoamer
Dispersants CALGON®* AND LOPON®* specialties and phosphates for water based interior and exterior paints
Flame Retardants for Intumescent Paints A complete portfolio of ammonium polyphosphates
Stabilizers for Silicate Systems LOPON® ST, 827, and STA as additives for
silicate-based systems
Stain Inhibitors
Tannin Stain Inhibitors
